Should Panama respect International treaties regarding Ecology?

While the rest of the world struggles to save rainforests, The government of Panama has implicity approved the destruction of massive amounts of forests, islands, mangrove and rivers for the benefits of building extensive tourist projects.

On the last straw, 38 Hectares of mangrove, the heart of any self sustaining ecosystem was destroyed, and the accused, Mr. Charro Espino (the uncle of Panama's president Martin Torrijos), has been released of the accusations because "not enough proof of long term damage can be proven"
"Panama the Green", "Green Panama", the land of butterflies, "abundant fishing", may not exist in a few years. While development is necessary, there has to be respect for the land and design along existing nature lines, not imposing architectural visions while destroying everything else.

Thanks to all investors, transnational companies, LLC'ers and tax evaders. I hope all the money you make will be enough to let you sleep at night when there is not water to drink, or food to eat, or air to breathe.
